Darling Downs South West Queensland Medicare Local is seeking feedback on a draft five-year Aboriginal health plan, “Steps To A Healthy Future”, which covers the South Burnett.
The “Darling Downs South West Qld Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 2014-19” aims to improve health outcomes in the Darling Downs, South Burnett and South-West Queensland regions.
DDSWQML says the plan, which was developed by local stakeholders, outlines a common direction and vision that can be “owned” by the people living in the region, as well as strategies designed to support individual organisations and regional partnerships.
- The 38-page Draft Plan can be downloaded here (584kb PDF)
- The feedback form, to be returned by June 30, can be downloaded here (34kb Word doc)
Footnote: While the draft plan is for five years, DDSWQML has a much shorter life.
Like all Medicare Locals across Australia, it was axed in the May Federal Budget and will be wound up on June 30 next year.
Medicare Locals will be replaced by larger Primary Health Networks on July 1, 2015, but details of this structure are yet to be announced.
