Artists and art lovers will be painting the town red (and possibly other colours as well) this Friday night when The Wondai Hotel and Cellar holds the South Burnett’s first-ever Arts Degustation Dinner.
The dinner is being held in conjunction with the nearby Wondai Regional Art Gallery to celebrate the Gallery’s latest exhibition “The Regionals Meet The Bush” which opened on Friday, June 6.
Guests will get to enjoy a five-course dinner matched to hand-picked, aged wines from the hotel’s extensive cellar.
Artist Christopher Hardwick, whose metal sculptures form the centerpiece of this month’s exhibition, will be a special guest speaker.
The dinner will also feature live entertainment, an art auction and a raffle.
Michael Beohm, from the Wondai Hotel, said the purpose of the dinner was to let arts fans “kick up their heels and celebrate”.
“Opening nights at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery are very popular social events and people come from all over the region every month to enjoy them,” he said.
“But they don’t necessarily lend themselves to the sort of fun gourmet experience a dinner does.
“(Wondai Gallery curator) Elaine Madill thought it would be nice to be able to offer everyone a special dinner where they could relax with like-minded people and just have fun. So that’s what we’re going to do.”
The dinner will be a casual dress affair and tickets are $70 per head (for the five-course dinner and matching wines) or $40 per head for the dinner without wines.
Tickets need to be booked with the Wondai Hotel on (07) 4168-5274 by Wednesday, June 18.
