Kumbia QCWA president Marian Mudra has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in today’s Queen’s Birthday honours.
Marian received her award for her service to the community, particularly through the Country Women’s Association.
She is a former State President of the CWA (2008-2011) and also served as State Vice-President (circa 2006-2008).
Marian has held a range of executive positions in the association at local and regional level, including President, Secretary and Press Secretary, and Chairman, Regional Organising Committee.
As well as her CWA service, Marian was a founding member and secretary/treasurer of the Ellesmere Rural Fire Brigade, 1984-1990.
She also served as secretary of the Bunya Mountains Natural History Association for four years, and has been secretary of the Nanango Progress Association, the Stuart Valley School Bus Committee and the Nanango Tourism and Development Association.
She is a member of the South Burnett Tourism Association, Nanango Chamber of Commerce, Kingaroy Local Ambulance Committee, Nanango and District Art and Craft Association, Kumbia Quilters, Kumbia Historical Society and Kumbia State School P&C and a volunteer at the Nanango Visitor Information Centre.

Former Cherbourg Cultural and Spiritual Health Team Leader Selwyn Eggmolesse, from Maryborough, also received an OAM in today’s honours.
Selwyn was manager of Indigenous Health for the South Burnett Health Service District from 1996-1998.
He was awarded his OAM for service to the Indigenous community through a range of roles in Aboriginal corporations and groups in Victoria, NSW and Queensland.
He is a current Board Member of Fraser Coast Housing Services and the Maryborough Aboriginal and Islanders Elders and Community Leaders Group.
