It’s been great weather for bowling lately – and a great time of the year for visiting and hosting visitors.

Nanango, for example, hosted the Caboolture Lakes club last weekend.

The green was packed with 70 bowlers, and because it was all social bowls no one was chasing prizes.

Everyone was just there for the fun of the sport, and it was a great day out.

Anyway, let’s find out what’s been going on around our neck of the woods…

Yarraman news:

Yarraman is always a happy hunting ground for Nanango, and Nanango waltzed away with the monthly rotational triples match last Saturday.

With conditions of play two for and end and five for a win:

  • Runners-Up: Bob Hall, Ben Pratap and Woody Hammond – 40

Yarraman are hosting a bus trip to Kallangur on Sunday, August 10 and they’ve invited Nanango to join them.
Something like 60 bowlers will be spending the day at Kallangur for breakfast, lunch and two rounds of bowls – what fun!

Kingaroy are well underway with their club championships, and their Mixed Pairs championships will commence this morning.

Last Sunday in the Pairs and Triples social competition:

Kilcoy news:

There’s always plenty happening at Kilcoy.

For example, their championships program are well under way and in Ladies Pairs, Liz Frawley and Sharon Walker defeated Trudi Pratt and Fay Vicary 23-21; while in the A Singles, Trudi Pratt defeated Tracey Evans 25-16.

Last weekend was the club’s annual Firies’ Charity Day and it was a great fund-raising success, with seven rinks in play.

During the week the club also hosted Liz and Kathy Frawley’s Trophy Day, and there were thirty two on the green vying for glory.

The winners on the day were Nelly Herbert, Adam Kelly and Leura Cathcart from Aspley.

Runner-Up’s were Dave Scott, Kathy Hill and Les Schilder (also from Aspley).
