Kingaroy’s recent spate of thefts – which began on the evening of Game 1 of the State of Origin – is continuing.
Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, from Kingaroy Police, said thieves had again targeted vehicles and garages in the Cowie Drive and Kingaroy Heights areas.
He said there had also been attempts to enter sheds and houses in the area.
Snr Sgt Frank said it appeared unknown offenders were targeting homes, cars and garages in the newer areas of Kingaroy.
He said that despite publicity about the recent thefts, people were still leaving their cars and garages unlocked, which was simply inviting trouble.
“Lock it or lose it,” he said.
Snr Sgt Frank again reminded people that leaving cars unlocked would void their insurance in most cases.
Police investigations into the thefts were continuing.
Anyone who has had anything stolen and had not yet reported it to police were urged to do so.
Any resident who had witnessed anything should contact Kingaroy Police directly on (07) 4160-4900 or anonymously to CrimeStoppers on 1800-333-000.
“We need the community to assist with information,” Snr Sgt Frank said.
“Police are undertaking a range of strategies to address the issue and are confident that it will be resolved, but we also need people to take individual responsibility, as they should always do.”
