South Burnett Regional Council has given the green light for alterations to plans for Kingaroy’s new $5.3 million motel development but the project is still on target for an October opening.

Across Country Motels managing director Seth Peady told southburnett.com.au the development had been reduced to 32 rooms, with room for future expansions.

A 60-seat restaurant and 200-seat function facility will now also be housed in the same building.

This new building, formerly Stage 2 of the project, will span 0.1ha with an “outback” design.

Mr Peady said the work schedule was tight but he was still planning to have the complex open in October.

He was aiming to use as many local contractors as possible during the construction.

When finished, the project will create about 20 jobs.
