What’s been happening at Nanango?

Last Friday week in Scroungers, Greg Pogson was on the ball with 119pts. Next best was Ben Pratap with 91pts.

Last Saturday was the Raine and Horne Nanango Trophy day, and there was a big roll-up at the event which was supported by neighbouring Yarraman.

Interestingly, the mAtch was a draw for partners and the winner was the highest score. Results?

Nanango’s Mixed Pairs competition is now complete, and here are the results.

In the Semi Final, Sue Tucker and Glen Yeates def. Lynn Halliday and Ben Pratap 23-4. And in the final, Sue Tucker and Glen Yeates 23 def Doris Drew and Warren Arthur 23-19 in a very watchable game.

Last Tuesday in the Men’s Social:

  • Lew Saunders, Greg Pogson and Jim Fowler def. Bob Hammond, Trevor George and Allan Ward 24-19
  • Henry Bleisner and Cec Bracken def. John McConnell and Bob Hall 32-14

An on Wednesday – Ladies Social Trophy Day – the match of interest here was the match between Lew Saunders, Evelyn Jensen and Henry Bliesner who defeated Murial Benfield, Di McNeilage and Athol Jensen 25-3.

Kingaroy news:

Kingaroy are up to date with their Open Championships. They held their Men’s Open Fours last Saturday and Sunday and got them all tidied up in a single weekend.

Here are the results.

Round 1:

  • Peter Neilsen, Dave Barwick, Paul Marychurch and Bob Robinson def. Lester Newman, Graham Heaton, Geoffrey Gees and Mark Williams 26-17
  • Alan Rogerson, Ron Pinn, John Coppard and Dave Clapperton def. Col Kratzmann, Trevor Turner, Errol Dionysius and Glen Turner 18-15

On Sunday in the Semi-finals:

The Final on Sunday afternoon was a little one-sided. Bob Robinson’a team were away like rockets and the result was never really in doubt.

In the end, Peter Neilsen, Dave Barwick, Paul Marychurch and Bob Robinson def. Alan Rogerson, Des Richards, John Coppard and Dave Clapperton 29-4.

In Sunday Bowls:

  • Robbie Johnson, Maree Millard, Gladys Slatter and Beryl Woods, def. Darcy Munro, Marj Moore, Ben Pratap and Maureen Semgreen 21-16
  • Fred Keding, Charmaine Macleod and Malcolm Macleod def. Dave Woods, Alan Irwin and Val Jeppesen 29-13

Wednesday’s Triples Social must have been a practice run for the next day:

Thursday was Triples Trophy Day, with four Points for a win and one point for each end won

The winners were Robbie Johnson, Felipe Munoz and Kev Raffin on 18 points, and the runners-up were Evelyn Taylor, Barry O’Brien and Errol Dionysius with 17 points on countback.

Yarraman Ladies had a big day on Tuesday.

It was Fiesta Day, and 12 teams from all over the Burnett took part.

There was one game of 21 ends and one game of 18 ends with conditions of play wins plus score.

  • Winners: Wondai (H.Keding, D.Lane, C.and G.Hodge – 2 wins 50).
  • Runners-up: Kingaroy (D.Reed, M.Kemp, C.McLeod and B.Grant – 2 wins 44)
  • 1st Round winners: Tansey (C.Lorkin, E.Owens, D.Malpas and B.Henness – 25)
  • 2nd Round winners: Yarraman (Ivy Wrembeck, Lorri Holmes, Alison Anderson and Kay Dugdell)

And on Wednesday in a Ladies A Singles championship match, Eunice Smith def. Sandra Currell 25-15.
