South Burnett tourist operators will be hoping they’ll get a boost from a new tourism marketing campaign which is encouraging travellers to take a break from the city and head to Southern Queensland where “somewhere in the country … it’s snuggling season”.
Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey said today the campaign was designed to lure visitors to a destination renowned for its four distinct seasons.
“The Southern Queensland Country ‘Book your perfect winter getaway now’ campaign takes advantage of the region’s crisp, clear winter weather to encourage romantics to gather around smouldering fireplaces, savour the fresh local produce and enjoy intimate culinary experiences,” Ms Stuckey said.
“The campaign follows Tourism and Events Queensland and Southern Queensland Country Tourism’s autumn promotional activity launched in March, and forms part of a broader strategy to position the destination as a superb seasonal escape.
“The autumn online marketing activity to date has seen 21,000 click-throughs to the campaign site, which is an impressive result.”
Ms Stuckey said supporting tourism marketing campaigns in regional destinations such as Southern Queensland Country would help grow the industry towards the goal of doubling visitor expenditure from $15 billion to $30 billion by 2020.
Southern Queensland Country Tourism CEO Mary-Clare Power said the Southern Queensland Country winter campaign would remind potential city visitors that they could savour memorable experiences in a destination located not far from Brisbane.
“The campaign will roll out online and through social media, showcasing Southern Queensland Country’s cosy B&Bs, gourmet restaurants, awe-inspiring natural wonders and award-winning wineries,” Ms Power said.
“The campaign will be in market until July 5 calling on people to book a Southern Queensland Country escape at www.somewherecountry.com.au”
