A pumpkin heads off to its fate down Goomeri’s Policeman’s Hill

May 21, 2014

It’s that time of the year again … when pumpkins hit the streets (and end up squashed).

The annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival will take over the town on Sunday.

Events get underway at 6:00am with a barbecue in the Goomeri Community Building in Dickinson Park.

The street markets will open at 8:00am.

There’ll be free entertainment, whip-cracking displays, Celtic pipes plus all things pumpkin.

There are decorated and giant pumpkin competitions, pumpkin bowls, a pumpkin pageant, pumpkin shotput and, of course, the trademarked Great Australian Pumpkin Roll at 2:00pm.

South Burnett chef Jason Ford returns to the festival this year and will be holding cooking demonstrations in Dickinson Park at 9:45am, 11:45am and 1:00pm.
