Having trouble with wild dogs or feral pigs? Assistance is now available.
The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) have provided a grant for a wild dog and feral pig trapping project for the South Burnett Local Government area.
The Kingaroy Landcare Group, South Burnett Grazing Network, South Burnett Pest Advisory Committee and South Burnett Regional Council will manage the project and assist South Burnett landholders willing to participate in a co-ordinated trapping project.
The funding will provide access to the services of a professional trapper to eligible applicants.
Target areas will be determined from feedback from landholders, so if you are having wild dog or feral pig problems report them.
Eligible landholders will need to surrender scalps taken as part of the program and provide permission for access to their property.
The program is available for a limited time only.
To register interest and apply for assistance with trapping services, call the South Burnett Regional Council on (07) 4189-9122.
NRM Co-ordinator Denise Whyte said Council also offered the following assistance to all landholders with wild dog and feral pig control throughout the year:
- Free trap hire
- 1080 baiting
- Free hire of Hoghopper
- Advice and property inspections
