Josie Potter … aiming to ride again in 2014

April 28, 2014

If you have an urge to dress up in red – and then run a half marathon – then Inverlaw will be the place to be on Sunday, June 8.

If you’re not that keen … how about a leisurely stroll for either 7.5km, 13km or 21.2km?

The “Inverlaw Walk for MS”, organised by the Kingaroy Cruisers cycle team, aims to raise much-needed funds for Multiple Sclerosis Queensland.

The event will be held at “Glenhye” at 1466 Kingaroy-Burrandowan Road.

Participants are urged to dress in their brightest red exercise gear – or don novelty red attire – to show their support for MS sufferers.

Cost to enter is $15.00 (standard entry) or $10 for a fund-raising entry (sponsorship forms are available).

There are three distances – each of which can be completed either as a run or a walk.

There will be staggered starting times from 6:30am (for the half-marathon walkers) to 10:00am (for the 7.5km runners).

The event has been organised by Kingaroy woman Josie Potter, who was diagnosed with MS in 2000.

Since then she has participated in three Brissie to the Bay Bike Rides with her Kingaroy Cruisers team to raise funds for MS Queensland.

She hopes to do so again this year despite a major health scare last year which saw her back in hospital.

All entries for the Inverlaw walk must be lodged before June 1. No registrations will be available on the day.

Josie said a canteen would be operating all morning for refreshments and there will also be raffles and novelty prizes.

PS. Keep an eye out for Josie and her friends who are currently selling raffle tickets for a full-size queen bed quilt as another part of the Kingaroy Cruisers’ fundraising.  Josie will be at Kingaroy Shoppingworld and various other locations for the next few weeks selling tickets for $1 each.
