South Burnett Chorale members certainly sang for their supper, raising more than $500 for the South Burnett Food Pantry and Murgon’s drought relief last Sunday (April 13).

Audiences at Murgon’s St Joseph’s Catholic Church and Kingaroy’s St John’s Lutheran Church were treated to excerpts from Stainer’s “Crucifixion” and John Peterson’s “The Glory of Easter”.

This is the second year the South Burnett Chorale has performed an Easter Cantata on Palm Sunday, under the leadership of conductor Margaret Shepherdson and accompanist Betty Birch.

“Last year the performance was very well received by audiences in Nanango and Kumbia, prompting us to share it with Kingaroy and Murgon this year,” Chorale president Margie Williams said.
