Federal Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss today encouraged eligible local farm businesses planning to apply for a Farm Finance Concessional Loan this financial year, to act urgently before applications close on April 30.
“The $420 million Farm Finance Concessional Loans Scheme enables eligible farm businesses to restructure their existing debt or improve their farm productivity by giving them access to low interest loans,” Mr Truss said.
“The variability of the weather over much of Wide Bay in recent times means that there are likely to be farmers who are eligible for this assistance.
“I urge those farmers finding themselves under financial pressure as a result of the drought, to urgently contact the Queensland Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry, to discuss their eligibility.
“It is important for people to discuss their circumstances with a case officer, rather than self-assessing, as the case officers are best placed to determine eligibility,” Mr Truss said.
Farmers are also able to check their eligibility for the Farm Finance Concessional Loan Scheme through QRAA on 1800-623-946 or via the QRAA website
