Kingaroy Town Hall was the place to be on Saturday night for an old-style Cabaret Ball, the perfect setting for the crowning of the 2014 Kingaroy Miss Showgirl.
Band “Just Friends” provided the live music in the hall, and with the tables pushed back, there was plenty of room for dancing.
A roast dinner, prepared by Accents Catering chef Jimmy Stephen, was served to 80 guests in the supper room.
They were joined by another 30 in the main hall for the night of entertainment.
And then, after a day of judging, came the big announcements …
The 2014 Kingaroy Miss Showgirl is Melissa O’Hanlon, with runner-up Kirsty Tigell.
The 2014 Kingaroy Rural Ambassador is Abigail Andersson, with runner-up Tim De Calume.
Judges for the competition were Rachael Black (Kingaroy), David McLaren (Toowoomba), and Steve and Kathy Marsh (Beerburrum).
South Burnett Deputy Mayor Keith Campbell compered the evening.
PS. On a lighter note, Daniel Retschlag won the Best Hat competition.
