Murgon businessman and president of the Murgon Business and Development Association, Leo Geraghty, was presented with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award by the Murgon Rotary Club on Wednesday night.

The Paul Harris Fellow is the highest honour a Rotary club can bestow.

It honours Rotary founder and Chicago lawyer Paul Harris who began the movement in 1905.

Individual Rotary clubs around the world honour outstanding individuals as Paul Harris Fellows. These people must meet high professional and personal standards and are not limited to Rotarians.

Mr Geraghty, who owns Clifton Motors, is also editor of  Murgon Moments and is active in the local Catholic parish.

He was honoured for his long service to the town of Murgon.

The presentation was made in a special ceremony held at Castra.
