Calling all would-be Miss Showgirls, Rural Ambassadors, Show Queens and Show Princesses … the organisers of the annual Kingaroy Show want to hear from you asap.
The South Burnett National Show Society is holding the annual Kingaroy Show Cabaret Ball on April 12 at Kingaroy Town Hall.
The 2014 Kingaroy Miss Showgirl and Rural Ambassador will be named, as well as Showgirl Princess (for primary-school aged children), Junior Showgirl (high school students) and Show Queen.
There’s no cost to enter and there’s some great prizes to be won.
Swickers have sponsored a $500 cash prize for the Miss Showgirl and KNM SunServices have sponsored a similar amount for the Rural Ambassador title.
Organiser Ros Tigell told southburnett.com.au today that the entrants for these two categories would have to be available for interviews with the judges from 10:30am on the morning of the ball, and importantly, must be available for both days of the Kingaroy Show (May 3-4).
Entrants for Rural Ambassador must be aged between 20-30 on May 1; Miss Showgirl entrants must be aged 18-28 on August 1.
The winners of these two titles have the opportunity to go on and compete at a South Burnett level, and if successful, then compete in statewide and national competitions.
Ros said other major sponsors for the night included Andersson’s Fruit Market, Seilers Transport, Ken Mills Toyota, Westco Truck Sales, JJ Richards & Sons, Brumby’s Bakery, the Carrollee Hotel, Dino’s Bobcat, Ergon Energy and Andersens Carpets, however the association was still looking for more sponsors to come on board.
Anyone interested in taking part in the Miss Showgirl competition – or interested in sponsoring the event – should contact Ros on 0428-228-839.
Tickets for the Cabaret Ball are available for $45 per person or $80 for two from Coppards Menswear in Kingaroy. This includes dinner and supper. Tickets that just cover supper are $20 per person. RSVPs are required by April 7.
