Four community groups have been successful in the latest round of funding from the Mayor’s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal.
The round was aimed at community groups to allow them to deliver projects that would benefit primary producers affected by the 2013 floods.
Red Earth committee member Louise Judge said the funding applications had to meet certain criteria, including that it was not to benefit an individual or to hold a sporting event.
“It was disappointing that some of the applications that we received did not meet the criteria,” she said.
“The ones that were approved did meet all the criteria.”
Each group will receive approximately $2000:
- Queensland Rural Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) – for first aid awareness
- Agforce – to run “Pamper The Producer” activities including barbecues to bring people together and help build capacity, resilience, mental health awareness and share information
- Mondure Hall Committee – Upgrade facilities at the hall and hold a community function
- Tablelands Hall Committee – Hold a social event, “Men and Mental Health”, to bring people together and follow-up activities

A third round of funding from the Mayor’s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal is now open.
This is also aimed at community groups to deliver projects to flood-affected primary producers and related businesses.
“We invite existing community groups to apply so we can support our communities in the way that suits them – determine what will benefit your community,” South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.
“We are seeking applications from across the South Burnett Regional Council area as the flood impact was widespread in our region.”
The Mayor’s Red Earth Flood Appeal raised more than $80,000 and has already distributed $51,500 in South Burnett Dollars (vouchers for businesses in the South Burnett) to affected primary producers.
Funding for the latest round will be up to $2000 per project with applications closing on April 11.
Application forms are available from the Council website or by email
