Nominations are now open to fill the vacancy left on Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council by the death of Cr Bert Button last month.
The election will be held on Saturday, April 12, although pre-poll voting will be available at the Cherbourg Shire Council office from March 31 to April 11.
Nomination forms are available from the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s website or from the Returning Officer at the Council office.
The nomination forms must be lodged with the Returning Officer before noon on Thursday, March 20.
The voting roll will close at 5:00pm on Friday this week. Residents can check if they are enrolled online or by phoning 1300-881-665 from 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday.
Voting is compulsory.
Applications for postal votes close at 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 9.
