Jorja Mayhew, 5, with her mum Kayla … surprise gifts from a reader

A news report last week about the theft of pots from a little girl’s garden has touched the heart of a southburnett.com.au reader.

Jorja Mayhew, 5, was devastated when her collection of pots was stolen from outside her home in Kingaroy.

After we published the report, a reader dropped into the South Burnett Online office with a swag of gardening-themed gifts for the little girl.

“I wanted her to know that there are good people in the world,” the woman – who wishes to remain anonymous – said.

“I wanted her to know that not everyone is bad.”

As well as an indoor plant, a range of replacement pots and a bag of potting mix, she also gave the little girl a garden ornament that reads “Hope”.

Jorja and her mother Kayla were overwhelmed when they received the gifts today.

All Jorja could say was “thank you” as she played with the pretty pots.
