The South Burnett Regional Council will be mounting a stall in Kingaroy Shoppingworld soon to publicise the upcoming performance of the smash British comedy “Calendar Girls” in Kingaroy.
Calendar Girls is was based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire women who produced a nude calendar to raise money for leukaemia research under the auspices of the Women’s Institute in April 1999.
It began life as a small-budget comedy film in 2003 starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters and quickly went on to become a worldwide success.
A stage play based on the film opened in London’s West End 2008.
There will be only one performance in Kingaroy. On Monday, March 10, South Burnett audiences will be able to see the Australian production of Calendar Girls when it’s performed at Kingaroy Town Hall from 6:45pm.
The stage show is being brought to the region by the South Burnett Regional Council in conjunction with Jally Entertainment, the Go Getta Girls Women’s Running Group and the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for concessions (pensioners and students) and they’re also on sale at the SBRC’s Customer Service Centres and Thorp’s Jewellers in Kingaroy Shoppingworld.
The Council will also be operating a stall at Shoppingworld on Thursday and Friday February 27-28, and again on Thursday and Friday March 6-7 between 10:00am and 2:00pm to promote the show and sell tickets.
