by the Kingaroy Photographic Club
The Kingaroy Photographic Club held its first meeting for 2014 last Tuesday night at the Kingaroy State High School Community Room.
The first item on the agenda was the election of the new committee.
The club’s executive members for 2014 are:
- President: Steve Clampit
- Vice president: Wendy Turner
- Secretary: Bev Sorensen
- Treasurer: Denise Keelan
- Competition Stewards: Rosemary and Fred Pratt
Following the meeting there was a critique of the photographs that were submitted in January.
Judging was carried out by PSQ judge Stan Bowles from Redcliffe.
Subjects submitted for this month were a set subject (“People”) and an open subject.
This year there’ll also be a new subject in the mix – “Own Choice” – which will be a progressive image section where a member chooses a photograph of their own choice which will then be submitted each month to a different judge to ascertain how the same photograph will be judged by different judges.
The results at the end of the year may prove interesting, to say the least!
Subjects for 2014 will include “Animal, Bird and Insect”; “At The Beach”; “Pictorial”; “Clouds”; and “Fire, Smoke or Steam”. There are also various Trophy subjects throughout the year including “Landscape”, “Child Study” and “Water Scene”.
Results this month included seven photographs which received the highest score possible: 9 out of 9.
These included photographs by Wendy Turner (“Church Yard”); Nancy Stronge (“Time For A Wave”); Howard Jack with “Out Of The Dust” and “The Fiddler”; and Denise Keelan with “And One Makes Three”, “Home Turn” and “Pretty Boy”.
Annual membership fees for the club were kept the same as last year at $35.
If you are interested in photography, you are more than welcome to come along to the club’s general meetings to see how friendly we are and how much we all love photography and sharing our knowledge.
In the meantime, take a look at the club’s Facebook page and feel free to send a PM for any enquiries or more information.
The club’s next meeting will be on the March 18 at the Kingaroy State High School Community Room, commencing at 6:30pm.
