Maleny artist Joanne Turner will be showing and discussing her paintings at the Other Space gallery, next to the Hotel Radnor in Blackbutt, between 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Friday, February 28.
Her latest paintings are based on the landscapes of childhood that exist in a slightly “other” realm.
“They are a mixture of reality, imagination and heightened emotion,” Jo said.
“The fox-masked figure in ‘Trouble In Arcadia’ strides boldly through two worlds – the landscape of childhood behind, and Arcadia before him. He is a fringe dweller, clever and adaptable, thriving on the edges of the mythical and mundane.”
The opening night will give people a chance to see the paintings up close and to talk to the artist in person.
“Our opening nights have been very popular,” Other Space curator Sue Beyer said,
“We have a different contemporary artist each month, and I try to include artists whose work is conceptual in nature.”
Refreshments will be provided and everybody is welcome.
