St John’s Lutheran School is experiencing an unprecedented expansion, not only in the physical structures with new buildings on the school grounds but with the addition of a bunch of new staff to begin the 2014 school year.

Principal Mrs Helen Folker has welcomed all the new staff to the school community.

“With the expansion of our school into Year 8 for the first time, it became necessary for our staffing to include specialist teachers in the subject areas,” Mrs Folker said.

“Many of the Middle School staff have had many years teaching experience and are extremely passionate about their subject areas.

“On occasions it has been difficult to secure experienced staff to an area like Kingaroy so to have each position filled with staff who have moved their families to Kingaroy has been a wonderful example of their dedication.

“We welcome Mrs Christa Glass (English/ Geography/ History), Mr Braydan Wilson (ICT) and Miss Ellen Inwood (Science/ Home Ec) to our Middle School program.

“Also for the first time we are offering three prep classes due to the increased numbers of inquiries we had late last year.

“We now have a great team of young teachers, new to our school: Miss Stef Kleinschmidt and Miss Alannah Coonan who are both energetic and enthusiastic, working alongside our key teacher, Mrs Marg Jeffrey who has taught this year level for the past nine years.

“Mrs Sue Yesberg, a teacher aide with many years’ experience, also joins our Prep team.

“Mrs Kylie Olsen-Price joins our Learning Support team and is able to offer her many years of experience in this area to enhance the programs already in place within the school.

“Mrs Liane Tessmann also joins this team as Learning Support Aide.

“With further growth in our student numbers Mrs Sarah Norris, Mrs Amanda Moore and Mrs Rayma Bryant have also joined as new teaching staff in 2014.

“We also have a new face in the Kindy. Mrs Jenny Christensen has been appointed as the new director and we know the younger children are going to love her warm and caring nature.

“We are extremely fortunate to have secured so many experienced staff who have moved from other schools in the State such as Gold Coast and Mackay to our area.

“We certainly look forward to them becoming part of our school community and getting to know our children and families. It will be a busy year ahead with our 25th Anniversary celebrations coming up on March 8-9 so I am sure they will get to meet many new faces within the Kingaroy area very soon!”
