The South Burnett Endurance Riders Association will be holding a series of rides along the Blackbutt Rail Trail and through the Benarkin State Forest on February 1-2.
This the is club’s first event for the year and club officials report they’ve had an overwhelming response, with more than 150 nominations received.
Over the course of the weekend the Association will be running two 20km introductory rides – one on Saturday afternoon and the other on Sunday morning.
They’ll also be running a 40km training ride on Sunday morning, February 2.
All rides will leave the Blackbutt Showgrounds and travel along the Blackbutt Rail Trail up to the first bridge, which will have them crossing under the highway approximately 5.6km from the showgrounds.
From there, riders will follow tracks into and around the Benarkin State Forest before returning to the Rail Trail for the final 5km stretch back to the Blackbutt showgrounds.
The 20km Ride on Saturday afternoon will leave the showgrounds at 2:00pm and all riders should be back at base by 5:00pm, though if it’s a very hot day the ride will start at 3:00pm.
The 40km ride on Sunday will start at 5:00am and the 20km ride will commence at 5:30am, with all riders expected to be back at Blackbutt by 10:00am
