Nurunderi TAFE Indigenous Student Support Officer Margaret Cobbo – who spends most of her days supporting Murgon and Cherbourg students realise their dreams – stepped into the spotlight recently to collect a peer-nominated TAFE staff award.
Marg was officially recognised at the Southern Queensland and Bremer Institutes of TAFE staff conference last week.
She won a Special Commendation award for “working beyond the role expectations with excellent client service skills and follow up through mentoring and support during and beyond student study and into the community”.
Cherbourg Campus Business Co-ordinator Santina Schmocker said she was not at all surprised by Marg’s win.
“Marg is very well known at Nurunderi TAFE due to her empathetic style – she’s student-focused, calm and quiet-spoken, and our students really respond to her guidance and warmth,” Mrs Schmocker said.
