Fee-free apprenticeships and traineeships are now available in 11 industries for Year 12 students who graduated in 2013.
Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said the “high demand” areas had been chosen by the State Government and industry.
“Fee-free training will give recent Year 12 graduates the opportunity to complete a high priority qualification without the financial burden of student contribution fees,” Mr Langbroek said.
“The Newman Government is giving Queensland’s students and employers greater choice and access to quality training so that together we can build the Queensland economy.”
Mr Langbroek said the following fee-free qualifications would be available if students started their training in the calendar year after completing Year 12:
- Disability
- Aged Care
- Home and Community Care
- Children’s Services
- Manufacturing Technology
- Laboratory Skills
- Drilling Oil and Gas (on shore)
- Arboriculture
- Landscape Construction
- Parks and Gardens
- Water Operations
