Kingaroy’s Local Ambulance Committee has been adding a dash of colour to school holiday entertainment with a cupcake decorating stall at Shoppingworld this week.
And the icing on the cake? Axel the mini-ambulance, which allows children to pretend to be ambulance drivers, roaring through traffic (on screen, of course) with lights flashing and siren sounding.
Kingaroy LAC president John Box said the stall was helping to raise awareness of the Local Ambulance Committee in the community.
And – in between callouts – ambulance officers have been dropping by to do spot health checks, taking blood pressure readings from shoppers.
The LAC acts as a go-between the ambulance service and the public, raising funds to help provide equipment for the organisation but also acting as a channel where members of the public can raise issues or concerns.
For a $2 donation, children can decorate their own cupcakes with icing, sprinkles and lollies.
Mr Box said he would like to thank Brumby’s Bakery, who had donated the cakes, and Donut King which provided the sweets.
The stall will be at Shoppingworld from 10:00am to 1:00pm daily until Friday.
