Multiple fire crews are on the scene of a vegetation fire on Giblin Road, Wilkesdale, which broke out about 7:30am.

The fire is not threatening any property but is expected to burn out about 25ha of bushland.

Water bombing aircraft and fire crews are working to contain the fire, which is causing some smoke in the area.

Motorists in the region are advised to drive with caution and be aware of fire crews working nearby.

Emergency services advise residents with respiratory illnesses to keep their doors and windows closed, and medication close by.

Two rural fire crews are assisting local landholders and forestry personnel to control a fire east of the Mundubbera-Durong Road at Beeron Road, Beeron.

An Emergency Services spokesperson said the fire was burning in a forestry area and posed no threat to homes.

UPDATE 10:30am: Two aircraft – each carrying 2000 litres of water or a water / foam mixture – are currently targeting the Wilkesdale fire.

UPDATE 3:50pm: There is now no “active” fire at Wilkesdale with some fire crews remaining on scene to monitor the area. Residents are encouraged to call Triple Zero (000) if they spot any new fires
