The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers hot rod and street machine club went on a special run last week … just to help out a young Kumbia girl.
Dakota Gallagher, 5, has a rare condition called hypertonia, similar to cerebral palsy, which is affecting her muscle tone and hindering her development of fine motor skills.
She started prep this year but has been struggling to hold a pencil.
Medical specialists had suggested an iPad could assist, which is where the Gas Guzzlers stepped in to help.
Late last year, the club learned about Dakota’s plight and decided to put some of their fund-raising to a good cause.
“The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers were happy to help out by purchasing an iPad and accessories,” club secretary Rhonda Mackrell said.
“The club approached Chris Robins, manager of Betta Home Living (in Kingaroy) who assisted with the purchase at cost.
“The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers host a car show in July at Maidenwell every year and this enables us to have the funds to donate in situations like this.
“The club would like to thank all the public who attend these events and support us and we hope that they continue to do so in the future.
“The smile on Dakota’s face makes all our efforts worthwhile.”
