A working group to fight for the retention of the Brisbane-Murgon-Brisbane bus route will be formed following a meeting next month of interested parties.
The meeting, organised by the South Burnett Regional Council, will be held at Council’s Kingaroy offices from 3:00pm on January 21.
The aim of the meeting is to gather information about all the ways the bus route is used by the local community before arguing the case with the State Government for a subsidy to ensure its long-term survival.
Earlier this year Brisbane Bus Lines announced it would axe the service on February 1. Council stepped in to provide an emergency subsidy of up to $30,000 to ensure the bus keeps running until the end of June 2014.
