A 19-year-old Kingaroy man, alleged to be the getaway driver in a recent attempted armed robbery at the Kingaroy McDonald’s Family Restaurant, will appear in court on January 9.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior-Sergeant Duane Frank, said today police had detained and interviewed the man on Tuesday morning.
He has been charged with attempted armed robbery.
Police will allege the 19-year-old drove the vehicle that dropped off an armed man at the store. He then allegedly parked a short distance away near Memorial Park and waited for his companion.
It would be alleged that when the accomplice fled the store empty-handed he ran to the parked car and the two men fled the scene.
Snr-Sgt Frank said police had taken the incident very seriously from the start and initially had no evidence to go on but after intensive inquiries two people had been charged with an offence within a week.
