A small crowd gathered at the Kingaroy Art Gallery on Friday night for the official opening of the Gallery’s final exhibition for 2013.

Until January 3, the Main Gallery will be playing host to “The Artists’ Verandah”, a collection of works by seven Nanango artists: Danielle Lawrence, Megan Cridland, Cherie Sibley, Barbara Larsen, Wanda Lucas, Dawn Gordon and Joy Hastings.

The artists last exhibited at the Kingaroy Art Gallery in January this year.

They work across a variety of media including acrylics, oils, graphite and coloured pencils, watercolours, photography and mosaics.

The new exhibition features 54 works, most of which have never been seen at the gallery before.

Gallery Three, meanwhile, has 11 original paper tole creations by artist Shirley Price on show.

Selected artworks from the South Burnett Regional Council’s permanent art collection are on display in Gallery Two, and an exhibition of painted skateboards is on display in the Youth Gallery.

Curator Wayne Brown, who opened the exhibition, congratulated the artists on the work they’d put into their latest collaborative exhibition.

He said he was certain it would delight visitors over the holiday season, and looked forward to seeing the artists continue to develop in the year ahead.
