South Burnett councillors have voted unanimously to subsidise the Brisbane-Murgon-Brisbane bus route until June 30 next year.
At the Council meeting held in Kingaroy today, councillors voted to provide up to $30,000 to support Brisbane Bus Lines continuing the service, at least in the short-term, while other options were explored.
The decision to subsidise the run occurred in the wake of widespread public alarm after news broke earlier this month that the service would end on February 1.
Cr Damien Tessmann told southburnett.com.au Council would now write to adjacent shires to seek assistance with the subsidy.
NB. While the Council vote was unanimous, Cr Deb Palmer absented herself from the process because of a potential conflict of interest as her business in Blackbutt acts as an ticket agency for Brisbane Bus Lines.
