The result of the by-election to fill a vacant position on Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council has been declared.
Mr Bert Button has been successful, securing 51.26 per cent of the vote (102 votes).
He secured a clear win over Lillian Gray (43 votes) and J Emma Stewart (54 votes).
In all, 201 of the eligible 384 voters enrolled cast a vote.
He will be joining Cr Ken Bone (Mayor), Cr Gordon Wragge (Deputy Mayor), Cr Christine Stewart and Cr Rory Boney.
