Have you had a baby at Kingaroy Hospital? Then the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service would like to hear from you.
Families in the South Burnett region have the chance to help shape the future of birthing services at the hospital.
On Tuesday, December 10, the hospital will host an afternoon tea for mothers and fathers who have previously used the hospital’s maternity services or are current clients.
“The event will involve brainstorming sessions with families from across the region to find out what women and the community would like to see offered as a part of the hospital’s maternity services,” Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service (DDHHS) South Burnett cluster operations manager Peta Rutherford said.
“We would like to hear from women and fathers who have had a baby at Kingaroy or who have been clients of the ante-natal and post-natal care.
Ms Rutherford said DDHHS would also be interested to hear about the experiences of mothers who chose not to birth at Kingaroy Hospital.
“They may be able to provide insight into what made their experiences at another centre positive,” she said.
Kingaroy Hospital currently handles more than 400 births each year.
DDHHS identified birthing services, the Emergency Department and mental health services in its 2013 Annual Report as three key areas of the hospital need urgent attention.
