Lindsay and Rhonda Kath with Eri and John Carey at the awards night in Brisbane

November 22, 2013

Rhonda and Lindsay Kath, from Kingaroy’s Mulanah Gardens B&B, had a black tie experience in Brisbane on Friday evening at the 2013 Queensland Tourism Awards

The B&B, which is located on Deep Creek Road just south of Kingaroy, was nominated for an award in the hotly contested Hosted Accommodation category.

This category is open to owner/operator accommodation providers who offer a high degree of personal contact with guests such as  B&Bs, farmstays, cottages and intimate, boutique, colonial or heritage accommodation.

Rhonda and Lindsay attended the awards with friends John and Eri Carey, from Kingaroy.

It was a tense time at the Kingaroy table as the Bronze, Silver and then Gold awards were announced.

Unfortunately, Mulanah Gardens were not successful this year however just attending the awards was a big experience.

The Gold winner was the Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat  at Montville, which also took out the top prize in 2012.

The Queensland Tourism Awards have been operating for more than 25 years to acknowledge the  tourism operators in Queensland who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and contribution to the State’s tourism industry. They are the peak industry awards for the sector.

Southern Queensland Country Tourism – the regional tourism association which now markets the South Burnett – took out a silver award in The Richard Power Award for Destination Marketing for its inaugural Destination Marketing Campaign following the merger of local regional tourism organisations.
