Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington says she has been lobbying to try to get a round of the top Queensland Cup rugby league competition to be played in Kingaroy.

“I recently had the opportunity to meet with representatives from both the Queensland Rugby League and National Rugby League during  last week’s Parliamentary Sitting,” Mrs Frecklington said today.

“Knowing that the Kingaroy Red Ants are keen to host an Intrust Super Cup Queensland Rugby League match I took the opportunity to press our case further.

“This would be an amazing boost for the South Burnett, not only bringing a great game for young and old, but an economic boost for our region.

“The QRL representative explained that they are keen to relocate more Super Cup matches to the regions in an effort to help connect the players with regional communities and our young people with the chance to see high quality matches.

“Following our meeting, I also lobbied further through a speech delivered during Parliament.

“I’m hoping we will hear positive news from the QRL and look forward to Kingaroy hosting an Intrust Super Cup match in the very near future.”
