The RSPCA’s recent adoption drive has paid off, with 30 pets finding new homes from the Kingaroy centre.

“I would like to thank the Queensland public for responding to the adoption drive that started on November 1,” RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty said.

“All nine animal care centres (in Queensland) were full and with the Christmas holidays fast approaching the situation was desperate.

“We’ve found homes for 583 animals since November 1 and that’s 240 more than we did in the same time last year.

“We really are very grateful and we’re urging people to continue to put the RSPCA first when it comes to choosing a new pet. We’re still hoping to rehome 1300 animals in the month of November.”

RSPCA Qld now rehomes more animals than any other animal welfare organisation in Australia.

All RSPCA dogs and cats are desexed and microchipped.

Kingaroy adopted animals (compared with the same time last year):

Cats 11 (0)
Dogs 15 (2)
Kittens 3 (1)
Puppies 1 (2)
Total 30 (5)
