Explorer’s Restaurant at Kingaroy’s Burke & Wills Motor Inn will be holding a special dinner on Friday, October 4 to help launch the South Burnett And Cherbourg On Show long weekend.
The restaurant – which is famous in the South Burnett for its contemporary regional cuisine – will be hosting a special six-course Degustation Dinner with matching South Burnett wines.
Degustation is a French culinary term which means a careful, appreciative tasting of various foods focussing on the senses, high culinary art and good company.
The dinner will be prepared by Explorer Restaurant’s head chef Eddie McGregor, assisted by chef-in-training Troy Hudson.
It will kick off with a first course of duck liver pate with goats cheese biscotti, accompanied by a Cranes Sparkling Shiraz, and this will be followed with a second course of fresh sea scallops with blood orange dill and coriander compote, matched to a Captains Paddock Verdelho.
The third course will be smoked chicken ravioli with anise-scented jus matched to a Kingsley Grove 2013 Chardonnay, and this will be followed by a fourth course of seared lamb cutlets with pea pesto and truffle butter matched to a Kingsley Grover 2006 Merlot.
The fifth course will be cider-permeated pork belly with sweet red sauerkraut and seasonal vegetables, accompanied by a Captains Paddock Merlot Mania; and then the evening will conclude with a final course of Peanut Affogato and Cranes Peanut Liqueur.
Live entertainment will be provided throughout the night by guitarist Julia Quinn.
All-inclusive tickets to the dinner – which will get underway at 6:30pm – are $85 per head and bookings are essential.
