Who’s best of the wurst in the South Burnett? Well it seems the answer is Kingaroy!

Fritz Kutzer, from Kingaroy Butchery, has won trophies previously but this year he went one better, taking out the Grand Champion trophy at the Wide Bay Wurst Off held at Wondai Town Hall on Saturday night.

Fritz’s winning wurst was made from venison.

The Wurst Off is a fundraiser for the Karate Union of Australia and attracts entries from butcher shops from the South and Central Burnett.

The three judges – Jason Ford (Ford on Food), Dave Nugent (CROW-FM) and Adrian Niemann (Goldmix) – did a blind tasting of of the various entries and then scored them.

Mundubbera Butchery Co, who were grand champions in 2011 and 2012, took home the People’s Choice trophy for their honey wurst
