A by-election to fill a vacant position on Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council will be held on Saturday, November 9.

The vacancy has been caused by the resignation of Cr Duncan Cobbo because of ill-health.

A polling booth will be located at Cherbourg State School on Saturday week, but Cherbourg residents can also pre-poll vote at the Council Office from Monday (October 28) to Friday (November 8).

Residents can also apply online for a postal vote before 6:00pm next Wednesday (November 6).

Voting is compulsory.

The poll will be decided by the “First Past the Post” system, ie the person who receives the most votes will win and no preferences will be distributed.

The candidates (in ballot paper order) are:

  • Lillian Gray
  • Bert Button
  • J Emma Stewart
