An afternoon tea was held at Kingaroy Courthouse on Friday afternoon to thank the team of volunteer Justices of the Peace who provide a free service in Kingaroy Shoppingworld.
Court Registrar Ben Madden maintains a roster of JPs who are available at the mall from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
As well, the local branch of the Queensland Justices Association provides a volunteer on Fridays and is looking to extend the service to Mondays.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington presented the volunteers with certificates of appreciation for their volunteer work.
The JPs have a table located in a quiet spot between the post office and Big W.
Their most common tasks are to witness signatures, certify copies of documents and witness statutory declarations.
