Golfers will have the opportunity to meet – and maybe play a round with – former Australian Test cricketer Greg Blewett on Wednesday.

Blewett, who is visiting the South Burnett for the Mayoral Breakfast on Tuesday morning, will also be the guest star at the South Burnett Radiology (Xray Kingaroy) Open Day at Kingaroy Golf Club the following day (October 16).

There’ll be more than $1000 in lucky door prizes up for grabs as well as $3000 worth of other prizes.

A men’s Stroke competition will be played for A, B and C Grades; and a women’s Stroke for Divisions 1 and 2.

There’ll also be prizes for novelty pin shots and accurate drives.

Cost to take part is $16 per player.

The day is also open to non-golfers and social golfers, with a handicap system in place.

A barbecue will be held from 10:30am with proceeds going to the Cancer Council of Queensland.

Greg Blewett is best known for his cricket prowess, but he’s also a handy golfer, having represented South Australia in the Australian Interstate Teams Amateur Championship.
