Murgon Rotary will be holding a monster auction of “leftovers” from the old Castra Retirement Home to kick off a fundraising drive to raise funds to purchase a new bus for the centre.
The auction, on October 12, will feature beds, chairs, tables, stainless steel tables, stainless steel bench sinks, lounge chairs, coffee tables, steel cabinets, bar fridges and white goods.
Southern Cross Care Castra manager Nina Vonhoff said a new bus was urgently needed at Castra as their bus was not only old but did not cater for the increased number of residents at the new centre, and did not include a wheelchair lift.
Murgon Rotary Club Glenn Kapernick said Rotary has placed the purchase of the bus as their priority in fundraising ventures.
Members of the community can also bring goods for an open auction (cars, trucks, machinery etc – commission only will be deducted) or donate goods to the auction.
The club’s goal is to raise about $100,000 as soon as possible.
If you have any items for the auction, contact Glenn Kapernick on (07) 4168-4748 or Pat Donohue on (07) 4168-2784.
Murgon Rotary would like to thank Paul Pratt, of Pratt Agencies, for his support for the project.
The auction will be held at 7 Boat Mountain Road in Murgon and will get underway at 10:00am on Saturday, October 12.
