October is Crime Prevention Month throughout Queensland and Kingaroy Police are urging local residents to join in to help promote crime prevention initiatives.
A Kingaroy Police spokesman said crime prevention was everyone’s responsibility.
“We know that crime prevention is most effective when everyone – you, me, communities, governments and police – works together,” he said.
“Through active participation during Crime Prevention Month you can contribute to making your home and local community a safer place.”
Kingaroy Police will have a display at Kingaroy Shoppingworld on Wednesday, October 16, where police will be in attendance to chat about safety.
What else can you do to promote crime prevention in our community?
- Join a Neighbourhood Watch group and meet your neighbours
- Pick up some helpful crime prevention brochures from the display at Shoppingworld or from your local police station
- Conduct a home security audit for your home and assist a neighbour
- Access fact sheets by visiting www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/cscp
- Talk to your children about safety, and assist them to download colouring sheets and book labels
