Regular dances at the Booie Hall will continue for the time being following a public meeting held on Saturday.
There had been concern that the dances – which have been a tradition at the hall for more than 80 years – may have had to fold through lack of numbers.
But Booie Hall Committee president David Muller told southburnett.com.au today the committee had decided to “keep it open at the moment”.
He said attendance numbers had dropped right away earlier this year but had picked up after a meeting on July 6.
After that meeting, numbers had increased to about 40 but had now fallen to about 35 a dance.
“We really need to get 52 people at least to every dance to make sure that it stays open,” David said.
“Costs are rising, public liability is rising, insurance is rising.”
Dances at the Booie Hall are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month from 8:00pm.
