The South Burnett sweltered through its hottest September day on record on Thursday.
The mercury climbed to 35.9 degrees (96.6 deg F).
The previous highest September records recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology in Kingaroy were 33.3 degrees on September 29, 2008 at Kingaroy Airport, and 34.0 degrees on September 30, 1988 at the Prince Street weather station.
The highest temperatures ever recorded in Kingaroy are 40.0 degrees on January 12, 2002 (at Kingaroy Airport) and 41.0 on January 6, 1994 (Prince Street).
The warm weather is set to continue with temperatures predicted to hover around the 30 degree mark for the next seven days:

- Wednesday – 30 degrees
- Thursday – 29 degrees
