The South Burnett Regional Council announced today that the fundraising from the Mayor’s Charity Gala Ball has now been finalised with a total of $30,932 raised for charities in the South Burnett.
“We were overwhelmed with the support we received from the community for the Charity Ball,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.
“Our goal was to raise funds for our local charities and to have raised over $30,000 is an amazing effort from all involved.
“We started organizing the ball before the Australia Day floods. We are humbled that after such a devastating natural disaster, South Burnett businesses and residents were still able to support the event.”
The funds were raised from sponsorship, raffles and auctions that were held on the evening.
“The auctions and raffles were well supported by all of those that attended. The highlight of the night was James Morrison and the band,” Mayor Kratzmann said.
“The ball will now become an annual event. We have received lots of positive feedback from those that attended.
“The hall was at its capacity this year and we anticipate that the demand will be just as strong next year.
“Even though the night is a great excuse to dress up we are very focused on our goal of raising money. Our aim for next year will be to raise more than $31,000 for South Burnett charities.”
Council will be announcing during the next few weeks how charities can apply for some of these funds.
