If you’re at a loss how to celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday, how about getting down to Kingaroy’s Memorial Park to enjoy a fun day for fathers?

The Fathers’ Day Picnic in the Park will be held on Sunday, September 1, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

The free entertainment will get underway at 10:00am with a performance by local duo Grant Jeppeson and Vashti Bruyn.

This will be followed at 11:00am with a performance by the South Burnett Caledonian Pipes and Drums and from noon, Blackbutt singer Amanda Sempf.

At 12:30pm, there’ll  be the drawing of random prizes. Tickets will be distributed to fathers present during the morning.

There’ll also be a prize for the oldest father present.

From 1:00pm to 2:00pm, the South Burnett Community Orchestra String Ensemble will be playing in the rotunda.

A spokesman for the organisers, Barry Krosch, said the idea was to encourage families to bring their fathers to the park for a relaxing picnic, while listening to some music.

He said people should consider bringing along some folding chairs.

The consumption of alcohol is prohibited in this park so the event is “alcohol-free”.
