The South Burnett Regional Council will start work soon to replace the Thompson Street timber bridge in Murgon with a concrete culvert.
A council spokesman said today the work was scheduled to start on September 2.
“It will be necessary for the section of Thompson Street between Douglas Street South to Krebs Street to be closed until November 16, weather permitting,” the spokesman said.
“All traffic movements – vehicular and pedestrian – will be detoured via Lamb Street unless otherwise advised.”
The existing timber structure will be completely removed and culverts and headworks installed.
